Dynamic Gait Scan for Real-Time Foot Movement Analysis

A gait scan refers to modern scanning technologies used for biomechanical assessments of walking and running. The technology applies sensors to capture limb movements and foot strikes while the subject walks on the treadmill or pressure-sensitive walkway. It automatically calculates steps or stride frequency, gait pace, and symmetry ratio, which can be used as benchmarks for age- and role-specific reference values. Weight distribution on foot soles is measured as well. For instance, a gait scan could show that a runner has 15% increased ground force application on their right foot relative to the left, which could lead to stress fractures. This makes it possible to tailor some custom orthotics or shoes or design special exercises to enhance the ease of walking and minimize injury chances.
